Volunteers
The City of Devonport Eisteddfod could not operate without the help of volunteers and we are always seeking people to join our friendly team. There are a variety of duties, so we are sure there is something for everyone. The duties are not hard and, not only do people find it rewarding, it is a great way to see and hear some amazing talent (for free) and meet new people at the same time.
We ask that volunteers have a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Card. These cards are mandatory for Stage Manager, Stage Assistant and Runner roles.
Examples of duties are: support will be given by those new to each role.
- Registration Desk: Checks off performers as they arrive and accepts their lead sheets for the adjudicator. Works closely with the Runner
- Runner: takes registration sheets to Penciller, Stage Assistant or Screen Operator and Stage Manager, and collects Reports from Adjudicators desk.
- Penciller: supports the adjudicator and may be required to write their report sheets for each competitor.
- Stage Assistant: Changes the Class and competitor numbers on Town Hall Theatre board to keep the audience and adjudicator informed.
- Screen Operator: performs the same role as Stage Assistant but at Lifeway Church using a computer
- Stage Manager: Welcomes the audience and announces the adjudicator and all competitors, classes.
- Usher: There are a number of duties, dependent on where the session is being held, but generally is required to supervise the audience.
